An Autumn Reset For Your Home

Hi Reader,

October means closed windows, heating back on, more washing, more time indoors, and (in my house at least) a sudden awareness of what the house smells like.

So this month I’ve been looking at the boring-but-important stuff: what we wash our clothes in, clean our surfaces with, put on our hands and add to the air around us.

And no, I’m not about to tell you your washing liquid is "quietly" destroying your hormones. But I do think the products we use repeatedly deserve a bit more scrutiny than we usually give them.

A few things worth knowing

Laundry is a good place to start. Detergent, fragrance and fabric products are used on clothes, towels and bedding that sit against our skin for hours. Fragrance ingredients can also be an issue for sensitive skin, so this is one of the first everyday products I look at when I’m helping someone reduce unnecessary household exposures.

“Fragrance” isn’t necessarily one ingredient. Scented household and personal-care products can contain mixtures of fragrance compounds, and some chemicals found across consumer products, including certain phthalates, have been studied for their potential endocrine effects.

Sprays deserve a bit of thought too. Cleaning sprays and air fresheners add particles and volatile compounds directly to indoor air. Research has linked frequent use of some cleaning sprays with respiratory irritation and asthma, particularly in people who are already susceptible.

And then there’s autumn itself. More time indoors means ventilation matters. Open the windows properly for ten minutes rather than leaving one cracked all day, especially after cooking, cleaning or showering.

My approach is very un-dramatic: don’t throw everything away. Use things up, and when they need replacing, decide whether you actually want the same thing back in the cupboard.

If you're with me so far, I have done some thinking for you ;)

1. AUTUMN HOME STARTER

This is for you if: you want to make a few easy changes to the products you already use - laundry, cleaning, hand wash and what you diffuse - without suddenly developing a new full-time hobby called “wellness”.

It centres around the On Guard home range, dōTERRA’s Protective Blend, plus Air for that fresh-house feeling and complimentary Wild Orange this month.

2. COMPLETE AUTUMN HOME

This is for you if: you’re ready to do a bigger switch and want home care, seasonal products, body care and beautiful home fragrance sorted in one go.

This one comes with Wild Orange AND Balance grounding blend gifts in October, plus a complimentary Visera Wellness Scan & personalised protocol with me (£89 value).

I’ve put the full details, prices and October extras into one simple guide rather than turning this email into a shopping catalogue, and as always - we can customise your baskets to your needs!

And remember: you absolutely do not need to change everything at once. I’m ordering a lot of these products for my own house this month too - one empty bottle at a time.
